The avant-garde house Comme des Garcons presents its new fragrance specially created in honor of the men's lifestyle magazine Monocle. The fragrance is available via Monocle.com and Comme des Garcons boutiques. It is named Scent One: Hinoki.
The fragrance Hinoki was created by Antoine Maisondieu, the nose of Comme des Garcons house. It is presented as a fragrance which brings aromas of cedar and Hinoki wood. It is inspired with Japanese warm spring baths and the woods of Scandinavia.

The fragrance brings notes of cypress, turpentine, camphor, cedar, thyme, pine, Georgian wood, frankincense, moss and vetiver.

Hinoki is a Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) which, when freshly cut, releases a lemon-like scent which reminds of cedar wood aromas. Hinoki is a precious wood of yellowy-white color which tends to pink nuances.

It is great for construction but very expensive. The fruits of Hinoki wood are actually 8-scale cones. Hinoki grows in a conic shape and reaches between 1,20 to 1,90 meters of height when cultivated in gardens and over 3 meters in nature.

The exclusive Comme des Garcons – Hinoki fragrance will be available starting from February 2008 at the price of GB£55 for 50ml (1.7 oz.fl.) EDT.

Uniqlo is promoting its new Heat Tech innerwear by giving it away for free in Times Square next month. Three cheers! Free clothes! But the best part is how they plan to distribute the clothes: with a "giant human vending machine." Above you see a rendering of said giant human vending machine. We didn't understand what a giant human vending machine was, so we called up a Uniqlo rep to find out. This is how she described it:

"Basically we’re going to have two mimes. A male and a female mime inside the machine. And the public can see them through glass. When you get there, we’re going to have Uniqlo reps dressed in the silver bodysuits. And they’re going to hold a thermograph scanner — think of an airport security machine. The thermographer identifies cold spots in your body. After you go through that, you go to the vending machine and push a button and the mimes are going to do a synchronized choreographed routine and then your outfit comes out."

Oh hell yes. Women will go to the women's side and men will go to the men's side and get outfits for their respective genders. However only one size will be distributed, which "should fit your average body type." A few thousand will be given away. Here are event details:

New Erie insurance campaign I worked on and is finally running in the midwest somewhere. That day was a pretty hectic day. We shot 7 people, 2 Kids, 2 babies and a cat. The cat and babies were suprisingly the easiest models to get the right shots from quickly. My writer was Tom Cook at Pedone Advertising. The photographer was Lynda Churilla who shoots for Eddie Bauer, 2xist to name a few.
